Privacy Policy

PLANZ ("we", "our", or "the app") is a task planning and scheduling app developed by Amandeep Bhardwaj. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

Data Stored on Your Device

• Tasks, routines, and availability settings — stored locally using Core Data. This data syncs across your devices via Apple iCloud if enabled.
• Preferences — theme, notification settings, and onboarding state stored in UserDefaults.
• Photos — if you attach images to tasks, they are stored on your device and, like your other task data, sync across your devices via Apple iCloud if enabled. They are not uploaded to PLANZ servers or any third party.

Voice Dictation (Speech Recognition & Microphone)

PLANZ offers optional voice dictation so you can speak instead of typing when adding task titles, brain-dump ideas, task notes, and checklist items. When you tap the microphone icon:

• Processing is entirely on-device using Apple's Speech framework with on-device recognition enabled. Your voice is never sent to PLANZ servers, Firebase, Google, or any third party.
• No audio is recorded or stored. Audio buffers are processed in memory and discarded immediately. Only the resulting text — which becomes part of the task or note you create — is saved, exactly as if you had typed it.
• The microphone is only active from the moment you tap the mic icon until you tap it again, navigate away, background the app, or another audio interruption occurs (such as an incoming call).
• You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone (and → Speech Recognition). The feature is opt-in per use — declining the permission prompt does not affect any other part of the app.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you grant permission, PLANZ writes the duration of your completed focus sessions to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes. This is optional and write-only — PLANZ does not read any data from Apple Health. Health data written by the app is stored by Apple in your encrypted Health database and is never sent to PLANZ servers, Firebase, or any third party. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

Data Stored on Our Servers (Firebase)

• Anonymous identifier — we use Firebase Anonymous Authentication. No email, name, or password is collected.
• Referral data — your referral code, redemption count, and reward status are stored in Google Cloud Firestore.
• Shared Plans — if you create or join a shared plan, the plan name, member IDs, display names, and shared tasks are stored in Firestore.
• Device token — if you enable push notifications, your FCM device token is stored to deliver notifications for shared plan activity.
• Purchase verification token — when you subscribe to Pro, an opaque, app-generated purchase token (Apple's appAccountToken) is stored to verify and reconcile your subscription entitlement and to prevent fraud. It contains no personal information.

Data Collected by Third Parties

• Google AdMob — displays ads to free-tier users. AdMob may collect device identifiers, IP address, and interaction data for ad personalization. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Meta (Facebook) SDK — measures the performance of our advertising campaigns. When you install the app or make a purchase, the SDK shares app events (such as installs and purchase value) and, only if you allow tracking via the prompt below, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) with Meta so we can understand which ads work and reach similar users. If you decline tracking, Meta receives only aggregated, privacy-preserving measurement (via Apple's SKAdNetwork) and not your advertising identifier. See Meta's Privacy Policy.
• Firebase Analytics — collects anonymous usage data (app opens, feature usage, crash reports) to help us improve the app. No personally identifiable information is collected.
• Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports including device model, OS version, and stack traces to help us fix bugs.
• Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT) — we request your permission before allowing ad-related tracking. You can decline without affecting app functionality.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide task scheduling, routines, and planning features
• To sync your data across devices via iCloud
• To enable shared plans and push notifications
• To manage the referral reward system
• To display relevant ads (free tier only)
• To analyze app usage and fix crashes

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only with:

• Google (Firebase & AdMob) — for authentication, data storage, analytics, crash reporting, and advertising as described above.
• Apple (iCloud & StoreKit) — for cloud sync and in-app purchase processing.
• Meta (Facebook) — for advertising measurement and audience matching, as described above. Only shared if you allow tracking; otherwise limited to Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork.
• Shared Plan members — if you join a shared plan, your display name and tasks are visible to other plan members.

4. Data Retention

• Local data is retained until you delete the app or clear it manually.
• Firebase data (referral, shared plans) is retained as long as your anonymous account exists.
• You can delete your shared plans from within the app at any time.

5. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored on servers operated by Google (Firebase) and Apple (iCloud) located in various countries worldwide, including the United States. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your data to these locations. These providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international data transfers in compliance with applicable laws.

6. Your Rights by Region

European Economic Area (GDPR)

If you are in the EEA, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent at any time (e.g., for ad tracking)
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Legal basis for processing: legitimate interest (app functionality), consent (ad tracking, analytics), and contract performance (subscription services).

California (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information is collected and how it is used
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell personal information
• Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Brazil (LGPD)

If you are in Brazil, you have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and port your data. You may also request anonymization of unnecessary data.

All Users

• You can disable ad tracking by declining the ATT prompt or via Settings > Privacy > Tracking.
• You can disable iCloud sync in your device's iCloud settings.
• You can delete your anonymous account and associated cloud data (referral records, shared-plan membership, device tokens) from within the app at any time.
• You can delete the app to remove all local data.
• To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your Firebase data, you may also contact us at the email below. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

PLANZ is rated 12+ and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). The app uses anonymous authentication and does not require any personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all network communication, Firebase security rules to restrict data access, and Apple's built-in encryption for local storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this URL. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top.
